Experiencing mental disorders such as stress, anxiety and depression is common in the
daily life of human beings, however the intensity and recurrence of their presence affects the
physical and psychological health of those who suffer from them. This research project aimed to
measure the level of stress, anxiety and depression in teachers of a public school and a private
school in the municipality of Madrid Cundinamarca. The study was quantitative and descriptive
in nature, with a probabilistic sample of 64 teachers from two institutions, one public and one
private. For data collection, a sociodemographic survey and the Test DASS-21 instrument were
applied. The results show that in both institutions the female gender predominates, the private
school teachers are on average ten years younger than the public school teachers, on the other
hand, the public school teachers have better training, as do these teachers. They have a better type
of hiring. The presence of stress, anxiety and depression was identified in the teachers of the two
educational institutions, but with different levels of intensity, normal for the teachers of the public
school and mild for the teachers of the private school. A coexistence between stress, anxiety and
depression was also observed. It is concluded that, although the presence of these disorders in
teachers of educational institutions is at minimum levels, it is necessary to define promotion and
prevention measures so that they remain that way.
