La inteligencia espiritual comprende la capacidad humana de efectuar la reformulación y la recontextualización de las experiencias vividas, permitiendo al sujeto comprender su participación en el mundo y desarrollar el autoconocimiento, y contar con recursos de afrontamiento ante eventos estresores. En el presente estudio se aborda el objetivo de describir como la inteligencia espiritual influye en el proceso de psicoterapia en pacientes que padecen algún tipo de trastorno en países de América Latina. A través de una metodología cualitativa de diseño documental, mediante el análisis de 15 investigaciones refrentes al estudio de la espiritualidad en relación con la práctica de la psicología, de los cuales 7 se han realizado en países de América Latina y 8 en otros países. Se describen las características teóricas de la inteligencia espiritual dentro del ámbito psicológico, sus posibles beneficios psicoterapéuticos y sus técnicas de aplicación. Todo ello tomando en cuenta los constructos teóricos de Danah Zohar e Ian Marshall, y Viktor Emil Frankl. La investigación dio como resultado que la inteligencia espiritual es un factor de influencia sobre los procesos psicológicos que permiten al sujeto mantener la regulación emocional, mejorar su percepción de la realidad, y actuar de manera adaptativa ante eventos estresores. La utilización de metodologías de psicoterapia que incluyan elementos concernientes al desarrollo de la inteligencia espiritual puede aportar a la disminución de la sintomatología asociada a trastornos presentes en el sujeto como la ansiedad y la depresión, aportar al desarrollo de la resiliencia y la adherencia al tratamiento.
Spiritual intelligence comprises the human capacity to carry out the reformulation and
recontextualization of lived experiences, allowing the subject to understand his participation in
the world and develop self-knowledge, and have coping resources in the face of stressful events.

psychotherapy process in patients suffering from some type of disorder in Latin American

theoretical characteristics of spiritual intelligence within the psychological field, its possible
psychotherapeutic benefits and its application techniques are described. All this taking into
account the theoretical constructs of Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall, and Viktor Emil Frankl. The
investigation gave as a result that spiritual intelligence is a factor of influence on the
psychological processes that allow the subject to maintain emotional regulation, improve their
perception of reality, and act adaptively in the face of stressful events. The use of psychotherapy
methodologies that include elements concerning the development of spiritual intelligence can
contribute to the reduction of symptoms associated with disorders present in the subject such as
anxiety and depression, contribute to the development of resilience and adherence to treatment.
