There are several terms that portray the situation experienced by university education worldwide
such as: absenteeism, desertion, retention, accompaniment and permanence. The first two
determinations the causes of the problem and the last three its possible solutions, but the
important thing is not to know certain words, but to be determined to recognize that you have the
problem and that there is a need to solve it. (Paramo and Correa, 1999). This is how the present
work addresses the situation that is evident in the University Corporation Minuto de Dios, Llanos
Oriental headquarters, in the Faculty of Management of Presence Companies, in relation to
attrition. In order to know its causes, the information provided by university welfare in relation
to the data collected semiannually to identify what is related to the mobility, permanence and exit
of students from the system (databases) and with the results of 200 telephone interviews will be
used as inputs made to students dropping out of the focused faculty, which were randomly
selected from the databases consulted, in order to obtain the information and thus give as a
product a proposal of strategies that mitigate the results of this problem that affects the
permanence of students within the system contributing actions that favor the retention of students
in the classrooms by the university.
